Hilleberg’s Akto tent I’d propose is a ‘Goldilocks’ tent for backpacking in Scotland and abroad across all seasons, especially for tall people. It’s just right I imagine for most as regards to weight, usability and dependability (putting aside cost and very extreme conditions).

Rab’s Generator Alpine, a synthetic insulated belay jacket I’m happy to carry and wear in Scottish Spring, Autumn and Winter conditions.

Petzl’s high-quality Nao headtorch is ideal for winter backpacking and trail and mountain running.

Original Mountain Marathon’s Classic 32 litre rucksack, which I find especially useful for summer backpacking.

Mountain Equipment Prophet, an insulated belay jacket - unusually with taped seams - that provides a lot of warmth for its weight.

Mountain Equipment’s Compressor Pants, synthetic insulated trousers I find perfect for winter camping and photography.

Mountain Equipment’s premier insulated belay jacket, Citadel, and it’s suitability for UK and Scottish Winter conditions.
